Contracts/Subcontracts Specialist

Position Description:
The Contracts/Subcontracts Specialist provides Specialist services to assigned Business Area(s) for contractual matters relating to the formation and administration of Agreements required to support Business Development pursuits and the Business Area active programs.
Responsibilities:
- Take the lead in formation of contract documents and commercial discussions and negotiations with other Parties and obtain internal approvals to execute Agreement documents such as Prime Sales contracts, Teaming, Cooperation, Non-Disclosure, Licensing, Personal Services Consulting, Representative (Agency) and Subcontracts for both Business Development groups and the Business Area
- Where contractual documents are drafted and supplied by Customers and others, duties include the review and evaluation of commercial risks to the Company and development and implementation of negotiation strategies to retire or reduce those risks
- Stay informed and make others aware of the Corporate and Business Area Procurement activities, procedures and policies at all times
- Keep accurate, easily accessible and complete records of the Company's contractual and business matters assigned to your scope of work activities
- Keep documented records of commitments made and understandings between the Company and its customers, subcontractors or suppliers
- Maintain a good understanding of the processes used by the Company to monitor its day to day affairs and follow those processes (e.g.: contract approval, timesheet recording, performance reporting)
- Ensure that the Business Area is cognizant of the requirement to have these Agreements properly expressed and executed in a timely manner to protect the interests of the Business Area as well as the Company
- Review and advise on contractual requirements expressed in Requests for Proposals/Quotations prepare checklists and draft a compliance matrix and exception statements, or contracts, for incorporation into the Company's Proposal to the potential customer
- Keep his or her immediate Supervisor and the Business Area apprised of business risk issues
- Be prepared to travel to support Company business activities and participate in or lead agreement negotiations
Requirements (experience/skills):
- Post secondary education including either a technical or business management certificate from a recognized Institute of Technology or University degree in Accounting, Business Science, Law or Engineering
- Directly related commercial experience in industry or government with an emphasis on progressive experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- A proven team player
- Ability to apply procedures and standards sensibly
- Willingness to learn
- Good working knowledge of personal computers and experience with various supporting software packages including MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and the ability to search the Internet for SACC, DFAR, FAR and DEFCON requirements
