For immediate release: April 8, 2003 MDA Awarded Contract Extension by VARGIS in Support of New York State ProjectRichmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA) announced today that the company’s Geographic Information Products group has commenced work on the third year of a contract with VARGIS LLC in support of the New York State Digital Orthoimagery Program announced in May 2001.The New York State Office of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Coordination is developing a new statewide coverage of digital orthoimagery through a contract with the VARGIS consortium, which includes MDA. The end product is being used by federal, state, and local government authorities, (as well as not-for-profit organizations) in a wide range of applications. The scope of the project’s third phase involves 15 counties in New York State, including St. Lawrence, Clinton, Hamilton, Oswego, Onondaga, Madison, and Cayuga.
