NASA Awards Study Contract Related to MDA-Built Robot

Richmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA) announced today that the company’s U.S. Information Systems subsidiary, Dynacs Inc., has been awarded a contract by NASA's Johnson Space Center to develop concepts for the Enhanced Orbital Replacement Unit Temporary Platform. The contract is valued at $275,000 (U.S.).

If the platform is implemented, it will aid in the efficient repair and maintenance of the International Space Station by the Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator — now called "Dextre"-- which was recently delivered to the Canadian Space Agency by MDA.

Dextre will be attached to Canadarm2 onboard the International Space Station.
