MDA Awarded $2.2 Million to Produce Forestry Information Products

Richmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA) announced today that the company has been awarded $2.2 million in orders to produce forestry inventory information products for two British Columbia forest companies in the northern region of the province.

MDA's Geographic Information Products group will provide vegetation resources inventory (VRI) information for Canadian Forest Products Ltd. in the Fort St. James Forest District, and Abitibi Consolidated Company of Canada in the MacKenzie Forest District.

The production of VRI information involves delineating the entire land base of British Columbia into similar vegetated and non-vegetated sectors, then identifying forest and vegetation attributes to describe them. This land information is then used for forest planning and annual allowable cut calculations.

Funding for these projects is provided by the Forest Investment Account.
