MDA to Complete the Modernization of Land Information Requests for Another Local Authority in England

Richmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA) announced today that the company has been awarded a $4.1 million (CDN) contract to modernize the processing of land information requests for the Borough of Telford & Wrekin, a local authority in Shropshire, England.

MDA's Information Systems Group will provide a turnkey system, as well as manage the process of converting paper records to a digital database for the new system. LAMP is part of the National Land Information System (NLIS) in the United Kingdom.

The Borough of Telford & Wrekin processes thousands of property search applications every year from solicitors. At present, it takes several days to process each application, but when their systems are modernized, the wait time will be substantially reduced.

"LAMP has given the Borough of Telford & Wrekin the opportunity to implement a truly corporate GIS solution, which will transform the way that information is managed within the authority," said Linda Blackwell the Borough's LAMP Project Manager. "The LAMP project will develop a robust geographic information framework that will cut across all service areas so as to link back office systems, and provide the platform for future e-government initiatives such as knowledge management and CRM."

This contract marks the final phase of the Local Authority Modernization Program (LAMP) for the Borough of Telford & Wrekin. (MDA announced the System Definition phase in February 2003). When the Implementation phase is completed, its Land Charges department will be able to respond to land information requests electronically.
