For immediate release: November 10, 2003 Four New Directors Named To MDA BoardMacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA) today announced a change in the composition of the company's Board of Directors. The four new Directors are Robert Dean, Brian Gibson, Bob Phillips, and Fares Salloum.The current members of the MDA Board of Directors are: Jim Shepard, Chairman of the Board since October 2001, former Chairman and CEO of Finning International. Daniel Friedmann, President & CEO of MDA. Robert Dean, CEO of Electro Optic Systems Technologies. Former Senior Director of the National Security Council and Special Assistant to the President in the United States in 1987 and 1988. Subsequently, Mr. Dean held senior executive positions with United Space Alliance, the Lockheed Martin Corporation, and the Boeing Company. Brian Gibson, a Senior Vice-President, (Active Equities) with the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan Board. He received his MBA from the University of Toronto and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He joined Teachers in 1995 as a portfolio manager and was appointed Vice-President in 1999. Brian Kenning, Director since May 2003. A Managing Partner with Brascan Financial Corporation, with operations in real estate, financial services, and power generation. Bob Phillips, President and CEO of the BC Railway Company. A native of Edmonton, he studied chemical engineering, business, and law at the University of Alberta. A former Vice President of Husky Oil, he also held senior positions at MacMillan Bloedel, including Senior Vice President of Business Development and Strategy. Hartley Richardson, Director since September 2001. President and CEO of James Richardson & Sons Limited, an investment and holding company. Fares Salloum, who spent much of his early career with Telus, rising to Executive Vice President, BC Telecom in 1983. He became a Senior Vice President responsible for International Operations at the GTE Corporation in 1997, and from 2000 to 2002 was President, International (the Americas) with Verizon Communications. Mark Shuparski, Director since June 2001. President of Pacific Capital Investments, former President and CEO of Bentall Capital LP. Headquartered in Richmond, B.C.
