For immediate release: April 7, 2004 Canadian Navy Continues to Rely on MDA Systems for Kingston Class VesselsDartmouth, N.S. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA) announced today that its Information Systems Group has been awarded a contract for approximately $1 million to deliver Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Trainers to the Canadian Navy, continuing MDA's long-standing provision of systems to support the twelve KINGSTON Class Maritime Coastal Defence vessels.In 2000, MDA delivered major mission critical systems to the Canadian Navy to support mine detection operations and other activities for the KINGSTON coastal patrol and surveillance vessels. Now MDA will provide systems to create a virtual environment to help train operators on both coasts on the use of mine-detecting ROVs situated on the same KINGSTON vessels. The ROV Trainers will incorporate Off The Shelf simulation software from GRI Simulations Inc. of St. John's, Newfoundland.
