MDA To Acquire Strategic Assets From EMS Canada

Richmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA), a provider of essential information solutions, announced today that it has agreed to acquire certain assets of EMS Canada, including certain agreements, equipment, land, buildings and personnel.

This move achieves the following strategic objectives:

• Brings a major source of supply directly under MDA control.
  

• Significantly improves MDA's value added content in future information solutions containing space based data collection and distribution.

The parties are seeking to close the transaction during 2005, subject to the satisfaction of normal closing conditions and clearance by Canadian antitrust authorities.
