For immediate release: February 2, 2006 More MDA Electronic Precursor HIPs In ProductionRichmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA), a provider of essential information solutions, announced today that National Homes Network (NHN) has launched their fully electronic precursor Home Information Pack (HIP) service. This service, which is based on MDA's precursor HIP solution and production facility, is offered by NHN to its network of independent real estate agents representing 220 member offices. MDA is receiving consideration for these packs. The NHN HIP service, provided by MDA, will enable NHN agents to be among the first estate agents in England and Wales to offer home sellers the opportunity to market their properties with a Pre-Sale Information Pack - a pre-cursor to the Government's Home Information Pack. Legislation to introduce Home Information Packs (HIPs) was part of the Housing Bill which became an Act in the United Kingdom in November 2004. Under the housing act, from June 1 2007 onward homeowners and their selling agents will be required to obtain a regulated HIP when listing homes for sale, and to make a copy of the pack available to prospective buyers.
