MDA To Participate In NATO Airspace Information Solution

Richmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA), a provider of essential information solutions, announced today that it has signed an agreement with Thales Raytheon Systems (TRS) of Fullerton, California, to participate in the execution of the NATO Air Command and Control System (ACCS) project.

ACCS will replace the existing Command and Control systems in NATO Europe - a mix of several Air Defense Ground Environment systems operating from Norway to Turkey. ACCS will meet the full range of requirements in offensive and defensive air operations, including the capability to counter terrorism and to provide air operations support in peacetime, crisis and war.

The work at MDA employs a team of systems and software engineers experienced in developing large-scale systems and further enhances MDA's expertise in the C4ISR (Command, Control, Computers, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) area. Additionally, it initiates a partnership with a leading international defense contractor, thus improving the company's position to pursue a broader range of opportunities in this market, both domestically and internationally.
