MDA Signs Information Solution Contract To Monitor Nuclear Power Plant Subsystems
Richmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA), a provider of essential information solutions, announced today that it has received a multi-million dollar contract from Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to replace the information solution that has monitored performance of the pressure tubes in CANDU reactors at the Pickering, Darlington, Bruce, Pt. Lepreau and Gentilly 2 Nuclear Generating Stations.
The company will supply upgraded systems to control the sophisticated Channel Inspection & Gauging Apparatus for Reactors (CIGAR). In addition, the company will deliver a test platform used for operator and maintenance training.
Paul Cooper, general manager of MDA's Brampton Operations where the contract will be executed, stated: "We are very pleased with this second contract from OPG, the first being a contract earlier this year to automate inspection of the vault which houses the reactor vessel.
